Cast Out

This Image was create with the free 3-D program Blender. The colorful background is actually an image taken by NASA of a nebula created when a star went supernova. It creates the look of a heavenly ‘explosion’ perfectly for the purposes of this scene. To place it in the in the background, I added a ‘plane’ object and rotated it until it was at a 90′ angle with the camera. I then textured it with the nebula image and made the object shadeless (after all, you can’t cast shadows on the sky).

The model in the foreground came from Michael’s Blender site but I don’t think it exists anymore (you can get free models from 3D Cafe). I didn’t have to do much to the model except add some clothing and give him wings. This model was a very heavy file so my computer couldn’t have handled much more therefore I had to create the models in background myself to keep their polygon count down. They were modeled by extruding a cube.

I gave all the models a light blue glass texture and then put a few vertices’s inside their bodies and gave them a glowing texture to make it look like the angels were radiant (I tried making the overall texture glow but it made the angels look plastic)
